Illustrating is another aspect of Mai Lan’s work and you can commission her to bring to life your stories, articles, or even to make your book cover. If you want to commission some illustrations, please fill in the form at the bottom of the page or contact Mai Lan.
Prices
Prices will vary according to the number of illustrations but will also depend on the rights which are going to be granted. Therefore, a quotation will be made at the moment of the commission, taking into accound the number of illustrations, the medium, the potential distribution, the budget of the client, etc. (you can have a look at this post on pricing for more information).
This will allow a contract to be drawn. Once it has been agreed to by both party, a deposit of 50% will be required.
In the case of a non-digital illustration, the price will also take into account the size and the medium, to cover the cost of materials.
Medium
The illustrations can be made in a variety of sizes and mediums. However, they will all be sent to the client as a high resolution digital file (the original artwork, in the case of a physical painting will remain the property of the artist and hers to sell if she wishes to). The style in which the illustrations will be done will be tailored to the needs of the client.

Book covers
Mai Lan can create a cover for your book, using an original commissioned painting, a digital painting, a photograph…
Prices will depend on the medium as well as on the usage rights. They will also depend on whether only a front cover is need, or a back cover and a spine as well.
The finished product will be sent to the client as a digital file. It will be formatted to suit the requirements of the publishing platform used by the client. Any original commissioned painting remains the property of the artist, except if the client buys them (please note that buying an original painting does not give any distribution rights).
