“Bright colours, graceful flight, enchanting song… Birds are probably the most accessible wildlife, easily heard and easily spotted, whether in cities or in the countryside. They are not as easily photographed, however, but trying to is always an exciting challenge for amateur photographers, even when success is limited.”
"By the seaside" March - May 2020
“From summer days filled with sunshine, to the luminous evenings of winter, the sea has as many moods as there are seasons and weathers. Trying to capture those is always a pleasure, though the pictures will always lack the smell of spray and seaweed, the lullaby of the waves, the shriek of seagulls, the feel of salt on your skin that give the seaside its special atmosphere.”
"Mist" December 2019 - February 2020
“Mist is magical. It can turn the blandest of landscapes into a place of mystery. It can be difficult to photograph, as it paints the countryside in varying shades of grey and blurs its contours. But when the light, or the time of the day, is right, its mood, sometimes gloomy, sometimes eerie, sometimes picturesque, and its magic can be captured on camera.”

"Dartmoor Sunsets" September-November 2019
“Sunset is my favourite time of the day to photograph. An explosion of bold colours: orange and pink and red and violet. A sky painted in pastel hues. Are sunsets especially magical on Dartmoor? There is, at any rate, something mystical about them, as the last rays of the sun align with the stark, granite tors. And the onlooker is filled with a sense of wonder.”

"Life in macro" June - August 2019
“Sweeping landscapes, endless horizons, the moor, the sea, the mountains… They inspire my work, paintings and photos alike. But I find details – dewdrops on a cobweb, the shimmering patterns on a butterfly’s wings, the delicate colours of a tiny flower – quite as appealing, though I have to admit I overlook them at times.
Seeing those details through the lenses of a camera is being given an opportunity to view them with a different perspective. It is like stepping into another world, small, complex and colourful. And fragile too. A moment, captured. Through the lenses of a camera.”
"A Dartmoor Winter" December 2018 - February 2019
“This virtual exhibition showcased a series of pictures taken on Dartmoor (UK) on the week of Christmas 2017.
We were surprised by snow, which painted the moor in shades of white and yellow and blue and provided a very inspiring setting, for photos and paintings.
From atmospheric mists, to glistening freshly fallen snow, winter on Dartmoor provides a number of different sceneries, each as beautiful as the other.”

"Vietnam" September 2018 - November 2018
“Thisvirtual exhibition focussed on my first impressions of Vietnam, where I travelled once, in October 2016.
My paternal grandfather was Vietnamese, so going there was a journey into the history of my family and the land of my ancestors.”

"Flowers" June 2018 - August 2018
This exhibition focussed on photographs of flowers, from hawthorn blossom to bluebells.
Delicate pink and white and blue petals, touched by the light of a spring day, dancing in the breeze. Nature’s poem.
